Venue Rental Agreement & Terms of Use

This is the agreement every guest signs electronically before their event. It's posted here so you can review it before requesting a date. Signing happens as part of booking, once your request is approved.

1. Parties & Agreement

This Venue Rental Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into between The Skylark ("Venue," "we," "us") and the individual renting the space ("Renter," "you"), as identified on the associated booking. By signing this Agreement, submitting payment, or entering the Venue, the Renter agrees to all terms below on behalf of themselves and all guests they invite.

2. Rental Period & Access

Standard rental period is 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM (noon to midnight) on the date reserved. Access is provided via door code or lockbox code, released only after this Agreement has been signed and the deposit described below has been charged.

3. Guest Capacity

Maximum occupancy is 50 guests.

4. Rental Fee, Deposit & Balance

Rental rate: $350 for weekday events (Monday–Thursday), $500 for weekend events (Friday–Sunday).

A deposit equal to 50% of the rental rate is charged at the time you sign — a real payment, counting as the first half of your total. The remaining 50% balance is automatically charged to the same card approximately 3–5 days before your event.

5. Damage Hold

At the same time your balance is charged, a separate, refundable hold of $250 is placed on your card to cover any damage or excessive mess. This is not an additional charge — it's released automatically within a few days after your event if there's nothing to report.

6. Damage & Additional Charges

If damage, excessive mess, or a violation of this Agreement is identified, we'll contact you with the estimated cost. You'll have three business days to respond. If we don't hear back, the $250 hold may be captured toward that cost, and the card on file may be charged for any amount beyond it.

7. Cancellation & Rescheduling

All fees and deposits are non-refundable once booked. Rescheduling is available at no charge with at least 7 days' notice, with no limit on the number of times.

8. Rules of Use

No pets. Smoking permitted only in the designated outdoor area. This is a BYOB venue — you're responsible for lawful and responsible alcohol use by your guests, including compliance with minimum age laws. No illegal drugs or controlled substances. Be considerate of neighboring properties. You're responsible for your guests' conduct. Before leaving, empty the refrigerator of anything you brought in and take all trash to the dumpster behind the building.

9. Assumption of Risk & Release of Liability

You assume all risks of using the Venue and release The Skylark, its owners, and agents from claims arising from your event, except for the Venue's gross negligence or willful misconduct, and agree to indemnify the Venue against claims arising from your or your guests' use of the space.

10. Photo & Video Release

You grant The Skylark permission to photograph or record the event for marketing purposes.

11. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana.

12. Electronic Acknowledgment

Checking the acknowledgment box and entering your full legal name at signing, together with the date, time, and IP address recorded at that moment, constitutes your valid electronic signature under the Louisiana Uniform Electronic Transactions Act and the federal ESIGN Act.
